A biker since the age of 16, my goal for 2002 was to get involved with the Harley Centenary. The plan was to take delivery of a brand spanking new model, the VRSCA V-rod, and ride it to the official celebrations in Barcelona.

What a bike! "seemingly sculpted from a solid block of metal" said the brochure. It looks great, like riding a piece of art. A moving sculpture maybe? only it works as a bike too.

Then came the trip to Spain. All through France and over the Pyrenees the bike didn't miss a beat, the weather was perfect and journey was memorable. Barcelona was packed with Harleys. Ever seen the Ramblas with bikes parked 5 deep? The Ravena chapter touring the town together on their bikes, the two hour parade around the town? I have.

Whether its the journey or the destination that counts I have yet to find out. But then thats the beauty of bikes.
